CSS wins silver trophy in English Radio Drama Competition

Congratulations to CSS students who were awarded the silver trophy in The 10th Radio Drama Competition on 12 May 2018.

This year, over 300 teams from over 80 schools took part in the competition. It was organized by Smart Education Charitable Foundation and invited schools from Hong Kong and Macau to write, record and then perform a 5 minute radio drama. The 2018 topic was ‘A day in the life of an elderly home.’ Five Form 4 students from CSS, namely Lauren Young (F4 Bo), Zoe Ng (F4 Ja), William Smith (F4 Bo), Edith Tang (F4 Bo) and Owen Weame (F4 Ba), put a short story together detailing the life of the elderly in Hong Kong, examining their contribution to society and their relationships with family.

Having progressed to the second round, the team recorded their drama and added sound effects like music and mahjong tiles. Editing it down to 5 minutes was a challenge, but their finished product placed among the top 20 teams and got them through to the final round - a live performance!

On May 12th, the team competed against five other finalist teams, presenting their drama live in front of a group of primary and secondary schools. Needing to play the sound effects at exactly the right moment and stay within the time limit, the team performed terrifically and came second overall, winning the silver trophy and some goodie bags of prizes.
