CSS Hosts Academic Exchange with The Affiliated Foreign Language School of SCNU

On 6 June 2023, we have the honor of hosting an academic exchange with the principal and teachers of the Affiliated Foreign Language School of South China Normal University (SCNU), as well as the advisors of the International Alliance for Invitational Education (IAIE).

During the exchange meeting, both principals delivered speeches, introducing the unique features of our respective schools, and then visited our school’s building, where we engaged with students and teachers in the classrooms. Both schools offer a dual curriculum, including the local curriculum and the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme, and share the same goal of linking the IB curriculum with the IAIE philosophy.

As part of our tour, we visited the CLACH room (Chinese Language & Literature, Arts, Culture & History), which is also known as "Si Que Zhai." Our guests were delighted to find that the class was being taught in Chinese for non-native speakers, providing them with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in traditional Chinese culture. The students in attendance expressed their sincere appreciation for this culturally rich learning environment, and they praised the dedicated Chinese teachers for their tireless efforts in teaching them the Chinese language and culture. It was evident that the students were thriving in this immersive and engaging classroom, which is a testament to the school's commitment to providing a well-rounded education that fosters cultural awareness and appreciation.

In the concluding session of the exchange, Principal Huang of SCNU expressed her admiration for our school, highlighting the four areas of excellence: the beautiful and inspiring learning environment, the dedicated and exceptional teaching team, top-quality education, and outstanding students. This recognition greatly encouraged us! Principal Huang also extended an invitation to both schools’ teachers to share their IB experiences with each other, and for students to experience the boarding life of local students.
