Good morning, Principal, Assistant Principal, teachers, and students. I'm Sarika from Form 2 Delonix.

At the end of the summer holidays, I keep listening to this song - ‘The End of August’ by Noah Kahan, and somehow every time it plays, it makes me think about all the experiences of this summer. Google says that this song is about the changing of the seasons, but to me it means so much more. It is about how quickly everything passes, and about how easy it is to live through a moment without realizing that one day you’ll look back and wish you could experience it just one more time.

Maybe you grew mentally, maybe you became stronger physically, became more confident, or simply learned something about yourself that you didn’t know before. Maybe you changed in ways you didn’t even notice at first. Maybe you experienced things nobody else saw, accomplished things you once thought were far away, or became a little closer to the person you’ve always wanted to be.

So take a moment to appreciate the summer. Sometimes you won't know the value of a moment until it is over; for example, recently, my best friend moved back to America. I spent the whole summer with her, and even I didn’t realise how much I missed her now that she's gone. I wish I had had that realisation then, to live in the moment and enjoy. Now take some time to reflect on the summer, not because it was perfect, but because you lived it. You experienced days you’ll never get back, laughed at things you might not remember years from now, made memories you’ll never experience in the same way again, and grew through moments that may have seemed ordinary at the time. And maybe that’s what makes it all so special.

Because someday, these ordinary days you’re living right now might be the days you miss the most - The late nights, the random conversations, the music playing in the background, the sunsets, the people you had around you, and the little moments you didn’t realize were becoming memories. So don’t rush to leave this chapter behind.

Look back for a moment. Appreciate where you’ve been, who you’ve become, and everything that brought you here.

And remember, the year isn’t over.

We are 4 months away from 2027, four more months to grow, four more months to change, four more months to make memories. To chase something you care about, to become stronger, to try something new, and finally to do the things you keep telling yourself you would do.

And this time, instead of thinking about what’s next, just think about how far you’ve already come.

Thank you.
