Isabella and Janice, students from Form 5 Jacaranda and Form 5 Cassia, respectively, delivered a speech on behalf of the Student Union and House Committees. They first thanked everyone for their support and trust by casting their votes. Then, they gave a preview of the upcoming activities and made pledges to do their best to serve the school community in the future.

Written by Isabella DE’EB(Form 5) and Janice CHEUNG (Form 5)
Isabella: Good morning, Mr. Hindes, Assistant Principals, teachers, and fellow students. I am Isabella from F.5 Jacaranda, and it is such an immense pleasure to be here representing Solaris, your 2025 to 2026 Student Union.
Janice: I am Janice from F.5 Cassia, the house captain representative, representing all the house committees.
Isabella: First and foremost, I would like to say a big thank you to my fellow members of Solaris. We wouldn't have made it if it weren't for you guys. I can't think of a better, more supportive group of people to help guide the school in the upcoming school year. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our teachers for making this school such a wonderful place that we get to experience every day, and also for driving the changes that continue to improve our day-to-day lives. I'd also like to thank all the students who took part in the student union election process, and for entrusting us to be your student union. Last but not least, I think we should have a round of applause for our last year's Student Union, Incio, who did an outstanding job and set a new standard for all future student unions, and for personally providing me with the knowledge and experience to hopefully raise the bar even further.
Janice: First, I would like to thank my house committee members for supporting me during our first few tasks provided to us. Even though we have mutual tasks to complete, for example, our first interhouse competition, planning for Open Day, and cheerleading for Sports Day, my team stepped out and worked together to accomplish all these tasks. I could not thank them enough for contributing and being part of my house committee. They give me motivation and encouragement to complete all impossible tasks. I would also like to thank the students of Cassia who contributed to the voting process, as the voting impacted our team a lot, as they trusted us to represent Cassia. We will strive to be the best role models and bring victory to our house. Though we might lose or win, we aim to have fun, enjoy the moments, and to show our best abilities.
Isabella: Everything in life is a balance between fun and responsibilities. On the fun side, you will be pleased to know that we will be retaining all the most popular activities from past years, but we will also be introducing new ideas such as capture the flag, interhouse mini game day, teacher appreciation day, and more. However, on a slightly more serious note, the Student Union understands that there are some requirements at present that are causing students real difficulties. This year's Student Union will listen to all students' legitimate feedback and suggestions, and we will try our best to represent you and reflect your views to our school management team, to improve school harmony.
Janice: As house committee members, we bear the responsibility to carry through the SU’s vision of maintaining a fun school life for our respective houses. Currently, we are focusing on preparations for Open Day and cheerleading. We are all aiming to contribute our earnings for a good cause and show off our house pride through Sports Day and Open Day. This helps all of us not just to connect with our house members, but also to improve our collaboration, communication, and time management skills as we do our very best to complete the tasks given.
Isabella: In closing, I am excited to announce that we are taking the initiative to introduce a targeted Google form where the student body can propose any new fun events as well as make practical suggestions on how to improve our school's operational efficiency to make school life easier for all of us. These Google Forms will be anonymous, please feel free to speak your mind about any of your concerns or suggestions for improvement. We would like to remind you that we are your voice, and we want to make sure you are heard.
Janice: We aim to share that same vibe of fun, pride, and togetherness with you. However, a house's strength relies on everyone. Your enthusiasm powers our competitions, and your involvement is what really shapes our achievements. Therefore, I would like to motivate every one of you—from Bauhinia to Juniper—not just sit back and watch. Get involved, take part, and have fun at various events. Every effort, no matter how big or small, brings one more lively part to the spirit of our house.
Together: With your support, let's make this the best school year ever! Thank you
