Flag Raising Ceremony Students’ Sharing 2026-4-23

Carine and Zynah, students from Form 3 Delonix and Form 3 Juniper respectively, shared some exciting moments about Hong Kong Sevens, which was held in the Kai Tak Sports Park last Friday. They recounted the match between South Africa and Argentina and reflected on the importance of teamwork, resilience and perseverance.

Carine: 校長、助理校長、各位老師、同學，早晨。我是中三鳳凰社的Carine。

Zynah: Good morning everybody, I am Zynah from F3 Juniper, and we are the co-captains of the junior girls' Rugby Team. Carine, I heard that you went to the Hong Kong Sevens last Friday, wasn’t it?

Carine: 是的！很榮幸, 學校给我們欖球隊的成員這個機會觀看香港國際七人欖球賽。 這是一個國際性的比賽， 來自世界各地的球隊都會蒞臨參賽。 這不止是一次比賽的機會，更是激勵我們追求卓越的時刻。

Zynah: That’s right! Attending the Hong Kong Sevens was more than just watching amazing matches, it was about experiencing the true spirit of rugby. Seeing players from different countries come together and showcase their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship reminds us why we love Rugby. We also see the dedication and hard work behind every successful team.

Carine: 沒錯！在現場，我們見證到不同隊伍使用巧妙的策略去對賽，從中獲益良多。 在七人賽的第三天，南非男子欖球隊以35：7的成績，戰勝了去年的冠軍隊伍—阿根廷。 這是南非隊首次在香港國際七人欖球巡迴賽奪冠。 當中球員利斯更成為決賽中的最佳球員。他在開球後，把球踢前追回達陣，再射進附加球，讓分數大比數拋離阿根廷隊。 其後隊友互相配合助攻，最終奪冠。 南非隊表現優秀，是由許多球員的汗水和無數的比賽經驗累積而成。憑藉完美的團隊合作和專業精神，才會獲得今天的成績。看著南非隊的隊員在賽後互相擁抱、慶祝的畫面，讓我地深深感受到，勝利背後是大家的付出和永不放棄的精神。

Zynah: Exactly, that is something we can bring back to our own interschool experience. For all of us who play inter-school rugby, every training session and match teaches us something valuable. It is not only about winning or losing, but also about teamwork, resilience, and friendship. Every game pushes us to grow, both as players and as individuals.

Carine: 我們還很記得教練和隊友們的支持和鼓勵。 有一次，在一場重要的比賽前，我在練習時候扭傷了腳踝，那時候我很擔心自己會連累整個隊伍。 但是，教練和隊友們沒有放棄我。相反，讓我感受到背後有整個團隊的關心和支持，提醒我這條路並不孤單。 除了分享比賽的喜悅，大家還會陪伴我渡過難關，可以說是「有福同享，有難同當」！ 你們的支持和鼓勵我都深深感受到，也想趁這次機會謝謝你們一直相信我。

Zynah: I remember one time during a training session, I struggled to keep up from exhaustion. But before I gave up, my teammates encouraged me to push through every step of the way. Our coach noticed it too, not only did she check up on me, but also reminded me that every athlete faces barriers but how we overcome it matters most. That day, I realised that rugby is never just about an individual, but about the people standing beside you when you need them most.

Looking back at how far we've come since our first match in F1, I remember how nervous we both were because everything was new to us. Even though we were scared, we pushed through together as a team. We learned to trust, to support each other, and stay focused. With every match, our confidence and teamwork only becomes stronger.

Carine: 時間過了這麼久，我仍記得那天的心情，一如昨日。我還記得比賽前有多緊張，也記得我們勝出那一刻的開心和興奮。 正是當年那些艱難的考驗，才成就了今天卓越的我們，以及這個團結一心的隊伍。

Zynah: I’m sure all of us feel the same, whether it was then or now. Every challenge has helped us become stronger.

In addition to this sharing, there is an important announcement we want to make. The Boys' B grade Rugby Team will be playing their placement match this Saturday at 9:40 a.m. at Kings Park.

Carine: 學校乙組男子欖球校隊將於星期六早上9時40分，在京士柏運動場進行名次賽賽事，真的很緊張呀。

Zynah: And how about the girls’ team?

Carine: 她們會在同一天的上午10時20分在同一地點進行大家期待已久的碟賽。 我們誠意邀請各位同學和家長親身到現場支持我們。

Zynah: Our junior girls’ team will be playing on the same day at 10:20 a.m. at Kings Park for the long-awaited Plate Final. We sincerely invite all students, teachers, and parents to come and support us.
