Dafne, Blair and Melody, students from Form 1 Delonix and Form 1 Bombax respectively, shared their Kindness Walk experience. They gave out essentials like food, water and hygiene kits. They also listened to the personal story shared by Cindy, who was once a homeless woman, and now becomes a chili oil business owner. She is using her success to pay back and help people who are in need.

Dafne:Good morning, Principal, Assistant principals, Teachers, and our fellow students. I’m Dafne from F1 Delonix.

Blair: I’m Blair from Form 1 Delonix.

Melody: And I’m Melody from F1 bombax.

Dafne: Today, we want to talk about “Kindness Walk”. You might be wondering: What is that? Is it just a stroll in the park? Not exactly. Kindness Walk is about a group of people going into the community to support our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness. All Form 1 students participated in this event a month ago, on April 10th.

We carried bags that were filled with essentials — things like food, water, and hygiene kits. It’s not just about donating the materials but the most important thing we carried was respect. We were there to listen, to chat, and to let everyone feel their presence and value. It’s to show our community that nobody is invisible.

Blair: During the activity, a woman called Cindy shared her experience with us. Cindy moved from Thailand to Hong Kong and, for a long time, she was one of the people who were experiencing homelessness and lived on the streets. She went through some incredibly tough times and faced many personal struggles. But Cindy is a fighter, and with the help of ImpactHK’s volunteer support, she found the strength to change her life.Today, she is now the proud owner of her chili oil business.

On the other hand, she never forgets where she came from. Now, Cindy uses her success to pay back, continue contributing in donating food to people in need and lead the way in helping others who are still struggling. She is the testament to how a little bit of support and a lot of hope can completely turn a life around. She inspired us to get involved and see how we could help the community too.

Melody: Throughout the walk, we splitted into teams to offer help. We hit the streets, and honestly, it was amazing. Seeing the smile on people’s faces when we handed them a meal or simply saying 'hello' was the best feeling. Just like what the bible said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive”.

Most people were so grateful, but the biggest lesson I learned wasn't about the food—it was about patience and compassion. I realized that even a tiny act, like a smile or a five-minute conversation, can make someone’s entire day better. This walk reminded me that we all have the power to make a positive impact. Letting them know they aren’t invisible and deserve our care and acknowledgment. You don’t need to be a superhero to help, you just need to be kind. Let’s keep making our community a better place and make one small step at a time.

Together: Thank you
