The Creative Secondary School welcomed our Form 1 students during Orientation Week, held from 14 August to 19 August 2026. Organized by Inicio, our Student Union, the programme helped students transition smoothly into secondary school life and begin building connections within the CSS community.
Getting Started at CSS
On 14 August, our Form 1 students arrived for registration day. They met teachers from different subject faculties and learned about the academic programmes CSS offers. Students also had their first official school photos taken, marking the beginning of their six-year journey with us.
Opening Ceremony and Cultural Exploration
Opening Ceremony on 17 August brought students and teachers together for an official welcome. Coming from different primary schools, our Form 1 students had the opportunity to connect with peers who will accompany them through their next journey.
Icebreakers brought students together within their house groups. Our six houses, each named after a flowering tree commonly found in Hong Kong and chosen by our first cohort of students, gave Form 1 students their first taste of house community and belonging.
Following the ceremony, students participated in CLACH activities that introduced them to Chinese language, art, culture, and history through experiential learning. Activities included dough sculpture (非遺面塑), Hanfu experience (漢服), gold leaf painting (金箔畫), traditional Chinese tie-dye (傳統扎染), and more, allowing students to engage with cultural traditions while working alongside their new classmates.
Campus Life and Community Building
On 18 August, students took part in campus orienteering activities. Working in small groups, they navigated our school grounds, familiarizing themselves with important school locations. The activity also helped students develop the social skills needed for a supportive school environment.
Looking Ahead: The MYP Programme
The Student Expectations Meeting on 19 August brought families together to discuss academic standards, school policies, and ways parents can support their children's learning journey at CSS.
While parents attended their session, students also participated in MYP (Middle Years Programme) Orientation. They learned about the structure of the International Baccalaureate curriculum, assessment methods, and what to expect in their first year of secondary school. Students also explored the IB Learner Profile, discussing attributes such as being inquirers, thinkers, communicators, and risk-takers.
Throughout the four-day programme, CSS aimed to help Form 1 students feel comfortable in their new environment while understanding the values and expectations that shape life at The Creative Secondary School.
Thanks to our Inicio(Student Union) members, teachers, and staff for working together to create an inclusive and engaging atmosphere for all participants. As our Form 1 students begin their secondary education journey, we look forward to supporting their growth academically, socially, and personally over the years ahead.
